the basics
Everyone has different tastes when it comes to Christmas trees. There are a few things to be on the lookout for no matter your tree style: freshness, color, and feel.
Check for freshness
How do you know if a tree is fresh? The ultimate question before buying a tree! Here's the inside scoop...bend a tree branch toward you very gently. Look at where the first place from the end the limb splits into three. Grip this in your hands and pull gently. Your hand should come away with very few needles - little to none.
Coloring + FEEL
You will see some dead needles on your tree. That's a-okay! Trees are a little like people. Just like we have dead skin, trees have dead needles. If the tree doesn’t experience a “cold snap” before it’s cut, you may see red needles. This is not an indicator of your tree’s freshness. Your tree should still be green in color, the branches should be flexible, and needles should be soft to the touch.
Decide on your tree type
Different species of trees will have a different feel, look, and smell. Some might have an undertone of citrus to them, while others might be known for their needle retention. We carry Balsam and Fraser this season at Anne’s Treeland, each providing a special look and feel in your home.
